World Trade Center
Movie Review: 'World Trade Center
Stars (Out of 10): 1
One Word Summary: Rubbish
'World Trade Center is rubbish. Trust me.
The movie retells the story of how two police officers were saved from the wreckage of the Twin Towers. It is a survivor story more than it is a 9-11 story; it could have easily been about the bird flu, earthquake, hurricane, etc. This movie offered nothing to anyone. Simply put, it is a slap in the face to everyone who was affected by 9-11.
It seems more like a made for T.V. movie than an Oliver Stone movie. I hoped they would ask questions, cause a little stir (I'm not even talking 'JFK stir, just something little), but no, there was nothing. It was gutless and heartless. It literally just retold the story of these two police officers like an evening newscast with actors.
It just seems like a waste. It was almost patronizing. The writing is so heavy handed, I mean, we all know what is going to happen, the movie is based on a true story, but I bet the men in real life were a lot more interesting than these two portrayals.
It's obvious that the studios were afraid making this movie. Watching the real life news reports and such was way more "disturbing." They didn't show any body parts in the wreckage. They showed one person jump and I dont think they showed more then 2 people die. Now lets look at 'Platoon; 'Platoon is one of the best war movies ever made, because of how it portrayed war. I was hoping for the same honest depiction of 9/11.
I did, however, get verklempt when I was supposed to. It was also kind of cool to watch them recreate the dust and smoke and towers, I assume digitally. But I'd rather just watch an amateur video of the real events because at least then it would be sincere.
Don't go see this. Send your $9 to the 9-11 memorial fund instead.
